dog scratch

We’ve all heard a few myths in regards to fleas. Here are just a few put to rest:

Myth: If your pet has fleas you’ll always be able to spot them.
Truth: Fleas are fast and don’t want to be spotted, so even a thorough search can overlook them. And all it takes is a quick walk near a nest of fleas to expose your pet to a whole new batch.

Myth: Treat only the infected pet when it gets fleas, and not the rest of the household.
Truth: Don’t forget to treat all of the animals in your house—down to the guinea pig. Even if they aren’t scratching yet, it only takes one infected pet to infest the others. That’s why it’s so important to de-flea the whole family!

Myth: If I only walk my dog on the sidewalk, he’ll never get fleas.
Truth: Fleas are crafty! And aren’t afraid to jump and hitchhike on your pup. and even you! So if your dog or cat aren’t regulars outdoors, that doesn’t mean that YOU aren’t capable of unknowingly transporting a few critters indoors too!

Myth: Generic flea prevent products work just as good as name-brand.
Truth: While they are cheaper, some of these products aren’t meant for certain animals, and can cause serious allergic reactions when used inappropriately.
